Can a bag labeled 2 × 3 inches be accepted or rejected from that label alone? No. The label identifies a nominal size, but receiving inspection also needs the dimension definition, agreed tolerance and measurement method. Without those, buyer and supplier may measure different parts of the same bag.
The EXTRACTPHYTO rosin filter bag range offers standard and custom dimensions. This worksheet focuses on dimensional acceptance of unused finished bags, rather than micron selection, seam strength or packaging quantities.

Use the product size as a starting reference
The 2 × 3 inch product listing identifies nylon mesh and 25, 37, 73, 90, 120 and 160 micron options. It lists inside/outside stitching and sewn/welded construction choices. Those choices should be fixed before approving the dimensional record.
Nominal bag dimensions do not establish usable internal dimensions. They also do not establish an allowable filling quantity or a pressure rating. Keep each of these requirements in its own field rather than deriving it from the size name.
Mark the dimension endpoints on a drawing
For each dimension, show exactly where measurement starts and ends. Distinguish the outside finished width from an internal clear width, and the overall length from any separately specified usable length. Identify the open end and joined edges. If a dimension excludes a seam allowance, state that explicitly.
Agree whether the unused bag is laid flat without stretching or prepared by another defined method. Specify any required conditioning, measuring equipment and handling method with the supplier. This guide does not assign a universal conditioning time or pull force.
| Worksheet field | Entry to agree before inspection |
|---|---|
| Product identity | Supplier code, micron, construction and drawing revision |
| Dimension A | Named endpoints, nominal value, units, lower and upper limits |
| Dimension B | Named endpoints, nominal value, units, lower and upper limits |
| Preparation | Bag condition and agreed handling method |
| Measurement record | Instrument, sample identifier, individual result and date |
| Disposition | Accepted, held for review or rejected under the agreed rule |
Translate a tolerance into explicit limits
Illustrative specification only—not an EXTRACTPHYTO tolerance: suppose a drawing defines an outside width of 50 mm with an agreed tolerance of ±1 mm. The numerical limits are 49–51 mm. A recorded width of 48.5 mm is outside those nominal limits; a width of 50.2 mm is within them.
For actual acceptance, apply the agreed decision rule, including how measurement uncertainty and results near a limit are handled. Do not invent a pass/fail policy after seeing the shipment. If the drawing instead defines an internal width, measurements of the outside width cannot be substituted.
Where both inches and millimetres appear, identify which values control acceptance. Rounded display conversions should not silently create a second tolerance. Ask for clarification if the order and drawing use different controlling units.
Record individual results rather than only an average
A shipment average can conceal individual bags outside the agreed limits. Keep the measured results tied to sample identifiers and carton or batch references. Record the inspection quantity and the agreed basis for choosing samples.
This article supplies no default sample size or lot acceptance number. Those are separate purchasing decisions. If the buyer and supplier obtain different results, compare dimension endpoints, preparation and instruments before assuming that either measurement proves a production change.
Keep dimensional acceptance separate from other approvals
A bag can meet its dimensional limits while failing another agreed requirement. Use the seam specification guide for construction and the SKU and pack-quantity guide for count reconciliation. Neither replaces the dimension record.
Retain the approved drawing and worksheet for reorders. If the fabric, joint or dimensions change, review the affected acceptance fields before approving a new version. Ask for feasible tolerances and any associated cost to be confirmed in the quotation rather than assuming a catalogue size carries a universal precision guarantee.
